An example of a Tanker
Beetleworx are enemies created by The Mad Doctor for oswald. And later used by the Phantom Blot. origanuly created for good, the blot made them foot soldiers. The first known Beetleworx, the Tanker, has the appearance of Mickey's Car with the head of Hades, from Hercules, protruding from the front bumper, made to intimidate and twist Mickey's vision of his friends. They are made from discarded animatronic bits, such as the plasma guns from Lilo and Stitch, and are part painted and part inert, though this is just one version. Another type of Tanker, one that resides in Tomorrow City, has the helmet of the alien troopers from Lilo & Stitch, and presumably the body of Buzz Lightyear. A third type, seen during the fight with the Mad Doctor, has the head of the Hag from Snow White and the apple that snow white ate for a body (It is covered in a pale green ooze making it look like a skull.). Tankers can shoot paint from their right cannons and thinner from the left ones.
There are also Hoppers, the common variety of Beetleworx, and as their name implies, they hop around the levels on patrol for everyone's favorite mouse. Most of these Beetleworx are modeled after various birds, such as the vultures from The Jungle Book, which can be found in Ventureland and Lonesome Manor, and the seagull from The Little Mermaid/Albatross from The Rescuers, the latter variety being found on Mickeyjunk Mountain.
A third variety, called Spinners, resemble spiders and are equipped with buzzsaws.
Another variety, the name of which is unknown, has the head of Jiminy Cricket, the legs of Dumbo, a mechanical arm reminiscent to the one on the mechanical arm in Dark Beauty Castle, and Bonkers the Bobcat's trailer for a body. it isn't known whether it made it into the game.
Beetleworx can be found anywhere, and are described as evil. The main purpose of a Beetleworx is to help repair the Wasteland, and will attack anything in their way. Destroying them can cause Mickey's Karma Gauge to fill with green, if one chooses the "Anti-Hero" route.Because Mickey stole his fame and popularity,Oswald was given types of Beetleworx made by the Mad Doctor, that looked like Mickey's friends, Donald Duck,Daisy,and Goofy, to make him feel better. These are shown to be very friendly towards Mickey, being completely harmless. They have personalities very similar to Mickey's real friends. They are found in peices scattered through the Wasteland, and can either be repaired, in which case they become allies, or sold for scrap.
Trivia
- Originally, many of the Beetleworx had a much more steampunk look to them, and came in many other varieties. They include but are not limited to: a Splatter that has been merged with various mechanical parts which include a fire extinguisher and the head of a ghoul from the Haunted Mansion as one of its shoulders, a Country Bear-headed scorpion robot, a giant Dumbo-faced transport vehicle, a giant fusion of Jafar, Goofy, Donald Duck, the Peter Pan Crocodile, Tigger, Jose Carioca, and one other character that Warren Spector or other Junction Point employees have not revealed yet.
- (SPOILERS) The Mad Docter is revealed later in the game to be a Beetleworx.
