Suspiciously, the Mad Doctor keeps mentioning that he needs a hero with a Heart even though no Wastelander has a Heart... Perhaps he knew that Ortensia and Gus would try and contact Mickey and Mickey would want to help the Wastelanders, and that would be his chance to take the Heart for himself.
