Mt. Osmore Caverns is the cave sanctuary of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit on Mickeyjunk Mountain. It is the final area you visit on the first visit and second to last area of the world before the Summit.

In Epic Mickey and Epic Mickey: Rebrushed[]

After completing the Mt. Osmore Slopes quest, Knock Knock, Mickey is granted passage to the Mt. Osmore Caverns, the home of Oswald's Sanctuary. Once entering the grand room, Gus tells Mickey to speak to the Ace of Spades, as he seems to be the one in charge. The Ace gives Mickey the quest Three Challenges, and tells him that he can only gain access to Oswald's office if he can brave three Oswald the Lucky Rabbit's Projector Screens, those being Trolley Troubles, Great Guns, and Oh What a Knight. Upon completion, the Ace begrudgingly commends Mickey, but not before a remark that Oswald completed the Screens in half the time.

Walkthrough 025b

Mickey talking to the Ace of Spades

Mickey and Gus proceed to Oswald's office, where Mickey meets the Rabbit for the first time. Mickey is told that it was because of him that Oswald lost his old life and his fame, and, after noticing Oswald drop a small bottle of Thinner, he is reminded of his experiment in Yen Sid's Lab all those years ago, when he dropped a similar bottle into Wasteland, and caused the Thinner Disaster. He says nothing about this to Oswald.

Mickey tells the Rabbit that he wants to leave Wasteland, which Oswald is comparatively happier to hear. Oswald seems to get a suspicious look on his face, when he states that Mickey still has his heart, so "Mickey" can still leave Wasteland. With a good knowledge of openings in the sky of Wasteland, Oswald tells Mickey and Gus to meet him at to the Moonliner Rocket in Tomorrow City to fly out of one of them. Gus informs Oswald that, without a heart, Oswald and him cannot leave. Oswald says nothing and makes his way to Mean Street. They then return to OsTown to meet up with him.

Second Visit[]

After the battle with the Mad Doctor in Lonesome Manor, Oswald tells Mickey that the Shadow Blot is rallying Blotlings for an attack on his fortress on Mickeyjunk Mountain, and gives the player the Oswald Needs Help quest. Mickey and Gus return to Mickeyjunk through the Projector in OsTown (which now leads directly to Mt. Osmore Caverns instead of The Heaps) where they meet with Oswald in his office. Here Mickey receives the quest The Shadow Blot and enters the Projector to Mickeyjunk Mountain Summit to defend the Mountain from the attack.

Secret area[]

Mt. Osmore Caverns

Under the giant rug in Oswald's Sanctuary, there is a ramp leading down to a secret area. It is blocked by a gate, which Gus exclaims can only be opened with something long and sharp. Mickey is able to use Gilda's Lost Axe to break in, but this will permanently damage the axe, and Mickey can never return it to Gilda. Should he choose to break into the secret area, Mickey will find a miniature, thinned-out, diorama of Wasteland, which Gus remarks can only be the work of someone very "dedicated." Inside is a miniature representation of Mean Street, Space Voyage and the Moonliner Rocket (representing Tomorrow City), Skull Island (representing Ventureland and Pirates of the Wasteland), the Lonesome Manor (representing itself and Bog Easy), the Village Windmill (representing Gremlin Village), and lastly, Mickeyjunk Mountain itself (representing the present location, as well as OsTown).

After climbing up all these miniature islands, there is one final diorama of Dark Beauty Castle which Mickey must stand on to either jump down to the next platform, or thin out a Mickey statue to get to the platform above the former one. Should Mickey choose to use Thinner, the Mickey statue will fade away, and drop the inert bottle of Thinner, which breaks and floods the Wasteland Diorama. Mickey is then granted passage to the bottom of the Beetleworx Factory, and then back to Oswald's Sanctuary.

Hints[]

  • There are three Pins in Mt. Osmore Caverns, all of which being in the secret area. The first one is on the top platform after thinning out the Mickey statue. The second pin is on the platform under the first pin. The last pin is the Mickeyjunk Mountain Pin, for which Mickey must traverse the bottom of the Beetleworx Factory area, and retrieve it right before entering back into Oswald's Sanctuary.
  • There is a piece of Extra Content behind Oswald's throne, that being "Oswald's Throne."
  • On the second visit to the Caverns, after Collecting all Rocket parts, there is a piece of Extra Content on the leg of a Mickey Mouse doll, that being "Oswald Poses."

Trivia[]

  • If it wasn't obvious enough, in the Wasteland Diorama, when the Mickey statue drops a bottle of Thinner and floods Wasteland, it is a direct reference to Mickey Mouse himself dropping Thinner on the real Wasteland, causing the Thinner Disaster. The statue is even wearing his Sorcerer's Apprentice attire, which was worn in Yen Sid's Lab, the place of the Thinner Disaster's origin.
    • Knowing this, it leads to more mystery as to who, or what, created this diorama. Oswald does not find out until later that Mickey caused the Thinner Disaster, and even still, he (and later Gus) are the only ones who know, until Yen Sid finds out, after Mickey arrives in Wasteland. However, it is possible that Oswald, not knowing how the Thinner Disaster came about, used his rival as a scapegoat for his anger and bitterness about his kingdom's destruction without actually knowing that it was, in fact, Mickey's fault.
    • The placement of this diorama in Mt. Osmore Caverns can be seen as symbolic, considering that this is the part of the story in which Mickey first begins to realize his involvement in Wasteland's plight. Considering that you have to restore the diorama in order to progress through it, and how Mickey can choose whether or not to flood the room with Thinner afterwards, it could also possibly represent Mickey making the choice to either plunge Wasteland further into chaos or to try and fix the damage he had unknowingly caused all those years ago.
  • In Oswald's office, the player can peek through cracks in the back wall (on the left side) and see the Wasteland Diorama. Alternatively, the player can go to the Wasteland Diorama and peek through the same wall to see Oswald's office. The view on either side is very limited, but generous enough to confidently discern.
  • In the second visit, there's a unique loading screen where Mickey encounters Oswald on his chair, this only shows up when visiting the caverns for the second time.
  • The music that plays here is a abridged version of Oswald's Theme.
  • In older versions of Rebrushed, Oswald's Theme did not play as intended. This was fixed in a later patch.
