This article is about the Paint Path and good choices made by Mickey. For the good ending of the games, see Good Ending
The Paint Path (or Good Path or Hero Path) is a path in Epic Mickey and Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two in which the player(s) makes all the morally good decisions. If Mickey chooses this path, many events of the Good Ending will play.
This list will show the Paint Path choices and their rewards.
List of Paint Path choices in Epic Mickey[]
Dark Beauty Castle[]
- Mickey frees Gremlin Calvin in the Castle Entrance and is rewarded with a Gold Pin.
- Mickey restores the paintings and gargoyles in the Throne Room, Oswald is grateful and gives him the Oswald Pin.
Gremlin Village[]
- Mickey patches all of the steam pipes in Slalom, the door to the Ticket Booth is easy to access.
- In the Ticket Booth area, Mickey uses Paint on the Paint and Thinner Pump, Gremlin Tim rewards him with a Bronze Pin.
- Mickey uses Paint on the Village Tower Pump and the door to the European Boat Ride opens properly.
- Mickey spins the valve on the Leaning Tower in the European Boat Ride (as opposed to breaking it), the boats start back up and take him to the next platform.
- Mickey chooses to ride clouds to get inside the Colosseum as opposed to breaking the Eiffel Tower.
- Mickey returns Small Pete's log to him (regardless of whether or not he showed it to Gremlin Bennet), Pete thanks Mickey and opens a room full of treasure. Additionally, on Mean Street, Big Bad Pete will give him the Small Pete Pin.
- In the battle with the Clock Tower, Mickey paints in the Tower's arms and face, which stops the music and calms the Tower down, and recieves a Paint Upgrade and the Stop the Music Pin.
Mean Street[]
- Mickey befriends the Spatters that cage Gremlin Markus and Oswald will give him a Power Spark.
- Mickey gives Ortensia's Locket to Oswald, receives a Health Upgrade.
- Mickey completes Detective Mickey I, receives Power Spark.
OsTown[]
- Mickey paints Moody's house and saves the pirate an injury, receives the code to safe.
- Mickey restores the OsTown Phone Network and save the Telephone from getting dismantled, gets to progress to Mickeyjunk Mountain.
- Mickey fixes Animatronic Goofy, receives Animatronic Goofy Pin and access to Ortensia's House.
- Mickey gives Gilda her climbing axe, receives a Power Spark and E-Tickets.
- Mickey completes Detective Mickey II, receives a Power Spark.
- Mickey brings Ice Cream to Clarabelle and delivers the cake to Horace, receives Happy Birthday Pin, Mean Street Romance Pin, and Power Spark.
Mickeyjunk Mountain[]
- Mickey uses Thinner on the Paint and Thinner Pump in The Piles and frees Gremlin Ronald, gets an easier way to cross Thinner river.
- Mickey fights the Shadow Blot with Paint, it becomes good and hugs Mickey, player will also receive the Me and My Shadow Pin.
Tomorrow City[]
- Mickey befriends the Slobber in the Great Big Tomorrow, receives Animatronic Goofy's torso.
- Mickey redeems Petetronic, receives Rocket part and Redeem Petetronic Pin. Additionally, Big Bad Pete will reward him with E-Tickets and a Power Spark on Mean Street.
- Mickey finds Dog Tags and brings them to Horace, receives Power Spark and the Mystery Solved Pin.
Ventureland[]
- Mickey gives Flowers to Damien Salt, who gives them to the now-smitten Henrietta, Mickey will be given the figurehead and gain access to a chest containing a Gold Pin, and also receives the Ventureland Romance Pin.
- Mickey fixes Animatronic Daisy, receives Animatronic Daisy Pin.
- Mickey completes Detective Mickey III, receives Power Spark.
- Mickey collects 3 masks. not four.
Pirates of the Wasteland[]
- Mickey fills the Pumps in Pirate Voyage with Paint, it will lower the river and the boats will not crash.
- Mickey fills in the Skull Island pumps with Paint and reverses the effect of the Pirate Conversion Machine and frees the Pirates, he is able to obtain the Pirate Friend Pin from a chest near the machine, and later receives Animatronic Daisy's left arm from Smee before the pirates in Ventureland go back home.
- Mickey saves the Sprite, who brings Pete Pan to the Jolly Roger to fight Animatronic Captain Hook for him (if he didn't destroy Hook or feed him to Animatronic Tick-Tock the Crocodile), receives Hook Vs. Pete Pan Pin and Paint Upgrade, and E-Tickets and a Power Spark from Big Bad Pete later on.
- Mickey finds Rigger Greene and tells Horace, receives Power Spark.
Bog Easy[]
- Mickey light the lamps for Bertrand and recovers Louis' courage, Metairie opens the Lonesome Manor Gate.
- Mickey recovers the runaway book for Ghost Ian and returns it to the Lonesome Manor Library, Ian rewards him with the Well Read Pin.
- Mickey fixes Animatronic Donald, receives Animatronic Donald Pin.
- Mickey finds and defeats the Spatter tormenting Donald's Voodoo Doll, brings it to Animatronic Daisy.
- Mickey completes Detective Mickey IV, receives Power Spark.
- Mickey brings gear to Moody to Fix Donald's Boat, receives
Lonesome Manor[]
- Mickey plays the Pipe Organ in the Ballroom and fixes him, then is able to progress to the Mad Doctor's Attic, receiving the Play a Tune Pin and later Animatronic Donald's left arm from Ghost Gabriel when the ghosts leave Bog Easy.
- Mickey catches Madame Leona's flyaway books (or pays Gremlin Jumbo to do it) and restores her art collection, she rewards him with Art Appreciator Pin.
- Mickey finds the Hatchet and returns it to Horace, receives Power Spark and the Case Closed Pin.
- Mickey finds History of Colonel Pete cartoon and returns it to Big Bad Pete, receives Power Spark.
- Mickey fixes the ride in the attic by placing TV Sketches and Anvil Sketches on their respective power pads. Gremlins Stuffus and Jarvis will aid Mickey in breaking the Beetleworx Replicators, Mickey receives a Paint Upgrade.

- Mickey paints every image of the brooms and thins the Magic Brooms, which dries up the water in the room, receives 60 E-Tickets.
Episode 1: A Family Reunion[]
Dark Beauty Castle[]
- Mickey restores the broken-down machine in the observatory by painting the broken wires, is able to progress to Castle Entrance.
- Mickey paints the spatters in the courtyard.
Mean Street South[]
- Mickey can paint various thinned toon objects. This will turn the guardian pool into a paint state from Episode 2 onwards.
- Mickey can buy a watch sketch from the Mean Street Emporium after enquiring with the Train Conductor. This will start the side quest, The Wasteland Limited. To fix the station, Mickey must stand on the block of suitcases in front of the train station, call Oswald, cast the watch sketch and quickly use the Co-op button to toss Oswald in the air. Oswald will then repair the clock. The repair to the train station is complete.
- Mickey can restore the Mad Hatter's shop's power supply. It is just above the underground entrance. Mickey will need to paint the gears and have Oswald shock it. The fan in the next room starts working and the player gets a Gold Pin.
Mean Street Underground[]
- If Mickey frees the Purple Gremlin trapped in the underground, the Gremlin builds balloons for the player to cross the large gap in the underground. Also, from then on, the purple gremlin is available to skip the underground and travel between the Mean Streets for 25 E-Tickets. The first ride is free.
Mean Street North[]
- Mickey can repair Paulie's air conditioner to get frozen ice cream and some scrap metal. (Be sure to first purchase the melting ice cream before performing the repairs.)
- If Mickey repairs the cinema's fuse box, the Usher gives some scrap metal. From Episode 2 onwards, the cinema can be used as a shortcut to travel to any destination with a projector. If the film reel is collected for a particular projector, Mickey does not need to pay. If not, the player will need to rent a film reel for 50 E-Tickets per each trip, going back to the cinema is free.
- Once the player has enough scrap metal, it can be given to Gremlin Jamface to repair the windmill to the D.E.C (Dahl Engineering Corridor) entrance to OsTown. (Thinning out the support beams is the thinner path)
OsTown[]
- The train station can be repaired using the fairy sketch and painting it in.
- If Mickey recovers the three pumps for Goofy and ignores Prescott's suggestion, the thinner problem is almost solved. Goofy also gives the Pump It Up Pin, which is one of the collectible pins required for the first spirit. Unlike Prescott's charger, using all three pumps does not spray thinner to all three houses in OsTown.
Rainbow Falls[]
- A Gremlin can be rescued inside a toon rock near the second water platform, leading to the indelible inkwell.
The Projector Substation[]
- If Mickey repairs the substation using the paint path, Small Pete makes positive comments about the player and the projector to the angel side of Rainbow Caverns is unlocked.
- Mickey will need to first move the large pipe towards the pipe with blue fluid and connect the coupling. The gears on the opposite plate must be painted to give space to the pipe.
- Mickey should repair the thinner pipe by pulling the coupling.
- The player should use a watch sketch or paint the clock near the flying platform to slow down the fast-moving fan. This should give Mickey ample time to enter the room behind the fan. The lever of the pipe inside should be spun with a spin attack. The fan can be paused again by pulling the lever inside.
Angel Caverns[]
- Painting the angel statue before taking a picture will lead to Gus making a positive comment about the photograph.
Disney Gulch[]
- Mickey can paint the toon around the gulch and convert the main guardian pool into paint. Gus will make a positive comment about photographs taken from the picture spots.
- If Mickey rescues the Green Gremlin in a small rock, above the large moving rock, the spatter pipes are stopped.
- Although Gus says the spatter on top is too far for Mickey's brush, Mickey can still jump on to the edge of the lift's top and paint the spatter. The battery sphere will fall and the spatter will also be befriended.
- The Gulch Salon should be painted to open the door and retrieve the battery sphere for the train.
- If Mickey retrieves all three battery spheres for the train, the Gulch bridge starts working with complete functionality and sprays paint onto the moving parts. This is the opposite of the inconvenience caused if only 1 battery sphere is taken, resulting in the moving parts being thinned out all the time. Mickey and Oswald will receive the When Elephants Fly pin for retrieving all three Battery Spheres.
Boss 1: Blotworx Dragon[]
- There is a shortcut projector (The Old Mill V2) which can be unlocked by turning on the generator which is right of the rocker (car enemy). This will skip half the Blotworx Dragon's boss battle. A different animation will also play. Skip to line 4 if you took the shortcut projector.
- If the main projector (The Old Mill V1) is taken, the fight starts with the Blotworx Dragon emerging. Mickey needs to paint the thinned parts, which reveal the first blotling. The blotling needs to be painted.
- Next, the dragon's tail should be painted. This will reveal the second blotling. Painting the second blotling gives a path to reach the top of the Mad Doctor's Lab.
- Painting the spatters on the top floor will prevent more from appearing and will allow the player to concentrate more on the dragon and the falling projectiles.
- Painting the dragon's head and chest will reveal the final spatter. Painting the spatter that comes out of the dragon's chest will trigger the good ending for the boss.
Episode 2: A Small Mystery[]
Mean Street South[]
- Mickey can start the quest Horace's Assistant Assistance. It will require Mickey to find Tedworth's teddy bear pieces in Blot Alley.
- Repairing the Robot Head and the Paint Tower is now open.
Mean Street North[]
- Repairing the Fishead Hut (accessed through windmill), the Ice Cream Shop Gremlin Hut and the Mean Street North Elevator is now available.
- Ortensia (in OsTown) and Paulie have different plans of rounding up Oswald's bunny children, starting the quest, The Bunny Wranglers. Ortensia's path is the good/paint one for this quest.
Bog Easy[]
- The first Beetleworx replicator can be reprogrammed by Oswald. Interacting with Metarie gets Mickey and Oswald some scrap metal. It is more than the amount received if the replicator is destroyed.
- Gremlin Sparks can be rescued on top of the Shanty Shop.
- The Beetleworx spinners' replicator can be reprogrammed.
- Entering Louis' house and interacting with him refills Mickey's paint and thinner.
- The replicator at the Old Town area can be reprogrammed by Oswald. The Beetleworx will then immediately break the wall leading to Blot Alley. They also repair the house by the time Mickey and Oswald revisit Bog Easy. This will speed up the quest, A Friend in Deed.
Blot Alley[]
- After the cutscene, there is a thinnable wall to the immediate left of Mickey with a piece of the Tedworth's bear and a gremlin.
- Painting all the Blotlings will help Mickey and Oswald please Ian. This also gets the Spatter Whisperer pin, required for awakening the Spirit of Compassion. Making sure Ian is fully pleased with your trip through Blot Alley is very difficult, if you make a mistake do not be afraid to exit and continue game before it saves.
- Taking EITHER the Paint or Thinner path in this visit to Blot Alley doesn't determine the final outcome of Ian's attitude towards Mickey and Oswald. He can change his mind if:
- Mickey paints all the spatters and Deloris in Fort Wasteland. (Good/Paint Path)
- Mickey thins all the spatters and Deloris in Fort Wasteland. (Bad/Thinner Path)
- Tedworth's teddy bear pieces can be collected in Blot Alley. The Quests section of the pause menu displays how many pieces have been collected and those which haven't been collected yet. (Locations can be found on the quest page on the wiki, Horace's Assistant Assistance)
Train Tunnels[]
Diorama 1[]
- Mickey and Oswald can restore the first diorama by painting the arms of the clocktower and spinning the gears next to the Clock Tower's head. Gus will make a happy comment if a photo is taken from the picture spot while the area is in a paint state.
- There is a gremlin behind a thinnable wall on the left most side.
Diorama 2[]
- The eyes of the replicators can be painted.
- The pipes above the Mad Doctor's snow globe can be painted.
- The Train car can be put back on track by pushing the handle.
- If a photo is taken after repairing the snow globe Gus will make a positive comment.
Diorama 3[]
- Pushing the handle on the blotling stand will pull the spring back in and repair it.
- On the roof there is a a hanging blotling it can be repaired by pulling it into the electricity.
- Abe will switch the diorama to the blot scene, this scene can be repaired by shifting all the towers to point towards the blot (the lights on the bottom will switch to green when pointing in the right direction.)
- Abe will reward Mickey and Oswald with a golden generic pin for repairing everything.
Fort Wasteland[]
- Just like in Blot Alley, painting Blotlings in the fort (and befriending Deloris) will make Ian happy and he will give a flower costume. Also, his part of the Clothes Make the Spatter quest will become available when visiting him in Blot Alley.
- In the forest section there is a gremlin on a cliff.
- If the cannons are fixed, by going to the other side of the wall and breaking the barrels holding them in place, Gus will make a positive comment about the photo.
- If the trees aren't thinned Gus will make a positive comment about the photo.
Floatyard[]
- The Stromboli float can be repaired.
- Oswald can reprogram the Beetleworx replicator in the Alice in Wonderland room.
- There is a gremlin on a cliff in the toon chasm (hallway leading to the Alice room).
- Gus will make a positive comment about a photo of the toon chasm if it is painted in.
- Mickey and Oswald should sneak past the eye at the top of the house to access the projector, The Band Concert V2.
Prescott's Arena[]
- For the first half of the fight Mickey should fill the back funnel with paint.
- For the second half Mickey should try to get the falling debris to destroy the panels, then either paint the gears or have Oswald shock the gears.
Episode 3: Into The Depths[]
Mean Street South[]
- Repairing the gates to under the train station is now available.
- Complete Horace's Assistant Assistance.
Bog Easy[]
- The train station can be repaired with the help of a TV sketch. Oswald will need to shock the box near the train station to open its panels and Mickey must immediately place a TV sketch. The train conductor will need to be manipulated to return to the train station, using the TV sketch, until the train conductor decides to return to work.
- Out of Toon: The Jugband must be repaired and all toon over Bog Easy must be painted in, this includes the graveyard and the plaque behind the explodable wall (in the graveyard). This does NOT include Blot Alley
- Donald's Date: Mickey and Oswald can permanently have Donald's boat fixed by Gremlin Sparks. Gremlin Sparks' forge must be repaired first, either by paying the scrap or turning on the generator. After this, the statues in the graveyard must be arranged. Woman on the heart, the bald man on the hat, the man with a hat on the bag and the man with the crazy hair on the ball. Gilbert's offer must be declined and the real gear must be given to Sparks. This will trigger the paint ending for this quest and Donald's boat will be made into a submarine.
- A Friend in Deed: After talking to sparks who will be in front of the new house, he will give Mickey the deed to the house. The deed to the building should be given to Metarie. To finish the quest Metairie wants one of three photos, the teddy bear in fort wasteland, the eye in the floatyard or Gilda in autotopia (these photos cannot be taken in advance).
Ventureland[]
- Mickey can use an Anvil Sketch to destroy the wreckage blocking the Train Station.
- Helping Damien Salt become captain will help him win Henrietta's courtship. Beluga Billy will not like Mickey and Oswald's behavior, criticizing them for this choice.
- To please Daisy collect Hook's clothing (4 pieces) and give it to her to get the elevator gear from Smee.
- Fixing the crane in the Spatter settlement will please Daisy and Ghost Ian.
- In the hallway leading to the Crane there is a gremlin in a cage.
- A TV sketch or the Invisible ink can be used to sneak past Pete Pan and his sprite.
Autotopia[]
- Across from the first siphon in a thinnable tree there is a gremlin in a cage.
- To the left of the entrance is a photo spot, Gus will make a positive comment if the siphon has been reprogrammed.
- At the third siphon in a nook there is a photo spot, Gus will make a positive comment if the siphon has been reprogrammed.
- Reprogramming two or all of the Guardian siphons free the Guardians and change the first pool to paint. A timed race will be unlocked after completing Rebuilding Autotopia rather than a demolition derby.
Mad Doctor's Attic[]
- If Oswald reprograms the Beetleworx Generators in this area, Gremlin Jamface will be freed and will reward Mickey and Oswald with the Ohana Pin.
Mad Doctor's Ride[]
- Painting the funnel in the mechanical arm palm will befriend it, resulting in it carrying Mickey and Oswald to the arena below.
- Painting the masks on the Mad Doc's mech will trigger the paint or good ending, redeeming him.
Episode 4: Epilogue[]
- Most side quests that have not been completed can be finished at this point. The rest are morally ambiguous.
