"What he didn't know was that there was an even bigger Blot, a Storm Blot; one that could destroy all of Wasteland!" --A.B.E., in Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two

Oswald as the Shadow Blot

Concept art of the Storm Blot

The Storm Blot is an unused character that was originally supposed to be the true enemy in Epic Mickey, a fusion of Oswald and the Blot.

From what is known, Oswald, who was corrupted by ink,[1] was the main villain and the Blot (known then as the Phantom Blot) did his bidding, according to Warren Spector. [2] The Blot somewhat possessed Oswald, though the rabbit was willing to do this in order to achieve this new power. Mickey had to call out to Oswald to stop being a pawn in the Blot's plan and redeem himself. According to concept artist Don Hamilton, “Oswald’s jealousy grows and grows until he becomes this monster”. Other artwork suggested the Blot would take Oswald's form even when he decided to side with Mickey. This however was scrapped in favor of making Oswald a main deuteragonist, due to fears that it would portray Oswald in a negative light. Warren Spector would later reveal that John Lasseter was the one that talked him out of it.

Trivia

  • In the first picture, the Storm Blot is actually using popular Disney characters in his plan and some characters like Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow are seen, as well as the Genie from Aladdin, Dopey from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Liver Lips McGrowl from the Country Bear Jamboree attraction. Whether this is taking place in Wasteland or in the Real World, as well as what the Blot plans on doing with these characters, is unknown.
  • The Storm Blot's plan vaguely resembles that of Mizrabel's in Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion.
  • As seen in the first picture in the Gallery section, the Storm Blot has all the powers the Shadow Blot has, such as spawning Blotlings.
  • The Storm Blot is mentioned in Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, when Mickey and Oswald revisit the Blot diorama in the train tunnels. Abe will say "But what Mickey didn't know was that there was another Blot, a Storm Blot, one that could destroy all of Wasteland." It's assumed that this is referring to the true Shadow Blot of the first game.
