The giant pearl

The Giant Pearl is a sought-after collectible in Epic Mickey 2, for various side quests. Its destination depends on the player's choice. It is found in Tiki Sam's shop in Ventureland. There are three ways of procuring it and each have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Procurement[]

Not much is known about the history of the giant pearl. It is known in one of Tiki Sam's statements that it was given to him as a gift from his mother. Sam is reluctant to sell it, except if he is paid 1,000 E-Tickets, or is traded it for The Pearl of Wisdom. The Giant Pearl is required for the side quest A Captain's Life for Me or One Toon's Trash. Mickey has three choices to procure the giant pearl for the required quests:

  • Buying it for 1,000 E-Tickets: Mickey can directly buy it from Tiki Sam's shop for 1,000 E-Tickets.
  • Trading with the Pearl of Wisdom: The Pearl of Wisdom from Autotopia can be traded to Tiki Sam for the Giant Pearl.
  • Stealing it: The Giant Pearl can be stolen from Tiki Sam's shop's rear entrance. If the player used his basement tunnel, it can be seen on the room on top. The player will need to go to the jungle ride at the bottom of the area leading to the construction site, where Starkey can also be seen. Mickey and Oswald can take one of the boats and reach the door to the backyard of Tiki Sam's shop. A costume piece for Oswald's Mad Doctor costume can also be collected. Thinning out the toon wall will allow Mickey to enter. However, Mickey will never be able to shop at Tiki Sam's again if the pearl is stolen.

Usage[]

One Toon's Trash[]

The Giant Pearl can be temporarily given to the museum for completing the quest One Toon's Trash.

A Captain's Life for Me[]

After procuring the Giant Pearl, there are two choices in the quest A Captain's Life for Me. The pearl can either be given to Damien Salt or Beluga Billy, depending on Mickey's path.

Damien Salt: Paint/Good[]

The Pearl will need to be placed in a Tiki head on top of the thinner fall near the waterwheel lift. After that, all the mirrors around the area will need to be painted, if not done already. There mirrors are:

  • On the roof of Daisy's news station
  • On the top of the tree on top of the lift
  • The construction site entrance

Mickey must then return to the Tiki head and open the chest with the treasure. After that, it must be given to Damien Salt to complete the quest. From now on, Damien Salt will be in the Captain's quarters under the Pig Family Treehouse.

Beluga Billy: Thinner/Bad[]

For the thinner path of the quest, Mickey will need to place the pearl in the Captain's quarters. There is a device near the door where the pearl can be placed. After placing it there, three switches will be visible outside.

  • One near the chest with Hook's clothes, under the Pig Family Treehouse
  • Inside the toon part of a large tree towards the left of the door to the Captain's quarters (if facing it)
  • On top of the train station

Mickey or Oswald will need to perform a spin attack on the levers. This will drain all the thinner in the bridge near the entrance and the Mickey's Service Station V1 projector. There is a door on the wall. Hook's maps and charts are inside it. Mickey will need to collect the items and give them to Beluga Billy, who leaves to Tortooga as the new captain. This will leave Damien Salt very unhappy with Mickey's decision.

Trivia[]

  • If the thinner path isn't chosen to procure the Giant Pearl, in Episode 4: Epilogue, Tiki Sam says that he will "let" Mickey buy things from his shop as a reward for defeating the Mad Doctor. This is likely a bug in the game, since stealing the pearl before defeating the Mad Doctor will have the same effect on Tiki Sam. He still won't let the player buy anything. This feature may have been intended for the thinner path itself, if Mickey stole the pearl before the final boss.
  • Like most quests, choosing the thinner path makes someone leave the location. In this case, it is Beluga Billy.
