Thru the Mirror is a Projector Screen in Epic Mickey and its remake, that connects Mean Street to OsTown. It is based on the 1936 cartoon short of the same name.

Gameplay[]

In Epic Mickey[]

Inside is recreated the scene where Mickey first breaches his mirror and is transported to a world where everything is reversed and has come alive. Mickey has to traverse obstacles such as flying cards, a spinning globe, and the King of Hearts. At the end of the level, Mickey exits a copy of the mirror into a mirrored version of his room from the beginning. From there he can exit to OsTown. If Mickey wishes to travel back to Mean Street, he can simply repeat the Projector level backwards.

In Epic Mickey: Rebrushed[]

The Epic Mickey: Rebrushed version of the stage keeps the same general gameplay mechanics and stage layout, with a few additions and alterations. Most notably of the mechanics is the Queen of Hearts, who if Mickey uses his spin move on, will change location when he revisits. She will start on top of the playing card throne and give Mickey 1 E-Ticket, then move to stand next to the fireplace on the left side and give him 10 E-Tickets. After this she will be on a platform close to the first Film Reel and then inside of the clock just past this platform, both times she will give Mickey 25 E-Tickets. Her next location is under a table next to the seesaw in the middle of the room, where she will give Mickey 100 E-Tickets. The last hidden location is inside the bookshelf on the right side, Mickey will need to enter it from a an opening next to the lit fireplace. Here, she will give him a purple E-Ticket worth 500, this is the only known instance of this type of E-Ticket being used in the entire game. If Mickey returns after this, she will permanently reside next to the King of Hearts and give Mickey a seemingly infinite number of E-Tickets for every time he uses his spin move on her.

Another notable change to the Projector level are new attic rooms added to the start and end, one contains a blue E-Ticket, and the other the Thru the Mirror Extra Content.

Film Reels[]

In Epic Mickey[]

The Film Reel for this Projector level can be found floating above the globe, and can be collected by jumping off of the nearby flying cards.

In Epic Mickey Rebrushed[]

The first Film Reel for this level is found in an air vent above the left mirror. Mickey will need to use the flying cards to reach it, open the vent, and collect it.

The second Film Reel is located on a shelf in the middle of the level's high road. By using the flying cards and crossing a book that falls into a bridge when approached, Mickey can collect it.

Trivia[]

  • This is one of three Projectors in the game that can be backtracked through, depending on which direction you are going the level subtly changes to allow ease of travel.
  • Using a spin attack on the Queen of Hearts will spin her and make her giggle awarding you with some E-Tickets.
  • Unlike most 2D Levels, where E-Tickets will be drawn toward Mickey when he gets close, Thru the Mirror doesn't have this element, and Mickey will have to touch the E-Tickets to collect them.
  • When Mickey hops through the mirrors, he reuses his animation of entering the projectors.
  • While some casual players may get tired of constantly hopping back and forth through this level, the optimized 100% playthrough only has you go through it 4 times. Once upon entering OsTown, then doing the quest to get Ice Cream for Clarabelle, then finishing some quests, and then returning to Mickeyjunk Mountain. In later versions like the original Japenese version and Rebrushed, you can also skip doing the screen entirely after the first time.
  • In Rebrushed, you can return both ways in the same trip. (i.e. if you enter from Mean Street you can return to Mean Street). The same goes for the other hub area Projector Screens.
